Wonderful Weekend

We've had the most wonderful weekend. Friday, Hunter and I drove to Victoria to visit with his mom. She's so much fun and we always try to go out to lunch while we're there. This time she had a special place in mind that she'd like to go. Mumphord's Place is a real old-time Texas barbecue place that reminded Hunter and I of Black's BBQ in Lockhart. You could tell it had been there a while and isn't in the greatest part of town (which is why Joyce wanted us to take her), but the food more than made up for any other concerns. The ribs, brisket, and sausage were very tasty. The staff have a fabulous sense of humor and the atmosphere inside was great fun. We've decided we'll have to go back sometime.
We also went to a quilt store in Victoria that I really liked. I even purchased a few things, which hopefully will keep me busy for a while (as if I didn't have enough to work on already). After a trip to Lowe's to follow up on Joyce's floor installation, we visited a while longer and headed on home. Dinner at Las Flores with Brad and Sarah allowed us to celebrate Hunter being officially employed as of that day. He's now a Mylogy employee and is very excited about the challenge. What a great day it was.
Yesterday we drove to Montgomery to see Mom and Dad. I knew that they needed a little yard trimming work done, so Brad came along with Hunter and me to see what we could do to help. A little trimming turned out to be quite an understatement, but after all was said and done, the yard looked great. Brad did manage to baptize the blower in the lake after 6" flames shot out from it (AFTER it had already been unplugged!!!) It was either baptize it, or drop it into the pile of dried leaves, and that decision didn't take long. Looks like we'll need to buy Dad a new blower. His was old anyway. Hunter got to ride his motorcycle up to Montgomery, so he enjoyed most of the day. I enjoyed a ride with Brad (and Dave Matthews) in his truck. After a long ride home, Mark and Linda asked to meet us at Las Flores, so off we went AGAIN. Good thing they have a menu with lots of variety.
Church was wonderful today. Brian Haynes preached in Alex's absence, and I love the way Brian teaches. I always learn a lot from him. I'm excited about the missions project our Sunday School is planning for March 7th (Kingsland Cares Day). We are going to help spruce up a church that is between Fulshear and Simonton that is 102 years old. Their church members are SO excited that we're coming. We've already had most of the rotten boards replaced and the building has been power-washed. When we go on the 7th, we'll paint the building and redo their flowerbeds to help the outside be more appealing for the members and those they are trying to reach. We'll even get to have a short devotional and praise time with them. What fun that will be.!!!

Turning Over A New Leaf

I haven't been good about using this account that Brad set up for me, but having signed up for Beth Moore's new online book club required me to learn how it works. Funny that the title of the book So Long Insecurity you've been a bad friend to me---so aptly describes me when it comes to this blogging effort. In case you're interested, it's not too late to sign up on livingproofministries.blogspot.com You'll find that nothing is "required" but much is offered. I am excited to attempt this new thing and learn, make some new friends, and see God at work. I'm pretty sure God laughs at me every time I sit down at this computer, but since nothing is impossible with Him, I think I can manage. I'll just take a minute now to laugh in advance. (Insert good hearty belly laugh here.)

Today we are going to visit Gramma Rowe. We'll take her to lunch, and see what jobs she may have that we can help with. I know I haven't used this blog much, but I really will try to get better. It will help when I learn how to do pictures. Ha!

My wonderfully technically intelligent son, Brad, set this blog up for me. I've been way too busy to write on it, but decided to give it a quick try. To all who may check my blog, I'll try to get better about this and learn how it works. Thank you, Brad, for helping me to learn new things--even when I am stubborn about it.
